UGC will contest appointment of Priya Varghese

"Real Teaching Experience Needed", Single Bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran in November 2022.

'Period Spent By Teacher To Pursue PhD Can Be Counted As Teaching Experience' : Division bench of Kerala High Court comprising Justice A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice Mohammed Nias C P in June 2023.

The RTI query revealed she got the maximum marks (32 out of 50) in the personal interview, while the the second-ranked candidate Jacob Skariah scored 30, but her research score was a mere 156, while the second-ranked candidate secured 651. However, she was ranked first based on the personal interview.

This part of interview marks may be easily challenged by Priya as UGC say score (Academic Score - 80,  Research Publications - 10 and Teaching Experience - 10) is only a criterion to be selected for interview, but the duration in deputation is not at all eligible for the teaching post.

"Criteria for Short-listing of Candidates for Interview for the Post of Assistant Professors in Universities. Number of candidates to be called for interview shall be decided by the concerned universities." is big loophole for these kind of appointments and the following judgements like these.

The above faulty judgement by the Division Bench will definitely be contested by UGC in Supreme Court, as it will lead to a lot of legal battles by ineligible candidates by Priya Varghese.

Priya Varghese is clearly ineligible for the post of Associate Professor at Kannur University.
